How to clean windows without streaks: the professional method
Share
Streaks almost always come from the same three things: too much product, drying with kitchen paper, or cleaning in direct sunlight. With sea views and big balcony doors, we've had plenty of practice.
What you need
- Glass cleaner spray.
- A window washer (and a spare sleeve).
- A heavy-duty cloth that doesn't leave lint.
- Gloves.
Step by step
- Dust the frame first, so the dirt doesn't end up on the glass.
- Wet the washer with water and a little glass cleaner, and go over the whole pane.
- Dry with the cloth in an "S" shape from top to bottom, switching to a dry part of the cloth as you go.
- Go over corners and edges, where drips gather.
- Small panes and mirrors: spray the cleaner onto the cloth, not onto the glass. You'll use less and leave no drips.
Pro tips
- Don't clean in direct sun: the product dries before you can remove it and leaves marks.
- Change the water as soon as it looks dirty.
- Wash cloths without fabric softener: it leaves a residue that causes smears.
