Cómo desengrasar la campana extractora paso a paso

How to degrease your cooker hood, step by step

The cooker hood collects the grease that nobody sees until it's sticky. In holiday apartments it's one of the spots we clean most often. This is how we do it.

What you need

  • A degreaser (in our Kitchen Pack: ND 7 and DENGRAS FOOD).
  • Concentrated washing-up liquid (VAMEL PLUS).
  • Stainless steel polish (BRINOX).
  • Microfibre cloths, a scourer and gloves.

Step by step

  1. Switch the hood off and let it cool down if you've been cooking.
  2. Filters: take them out and soak them for 15-20 minutes in hot water with a squirt of concentrated washing-up liquid. Scrub with the scourer, rinse and let them dry completely. Many metal filters can also go in the dishwasher: check the manufacturer's instructions.
  3. Outside: spray the degreaser onto the cloth, not directly onto buttons or electrical parts. On stuck-on grease, leave it for 1-2 minutes, then wipe with a damp microfibre cloth.
  4. Stainless steel: apply the polish with a dry microfibre cloth, following the direction of the steel's grain. No fingerprints, no streaks.
  5. Put the filters back once they're completely dry.

How often

  • Outside: once a week.
  • Filters: once a month if you cook every day.

Mistakes we see all the time

  • Using the metal scourer on visible stainless steel: it scratches. Keep it for pans and grills.
  • Spraying degreaser on hot surfaces.
  • Forgetting gloves: degreasers are strong on skin.

Everything you need for a grease-free kitchen comes in our Kitchen Pack.
